Transient Mammal Eating Orcas

For the last two days we have seen Transient,
mammal eating, Orcas.

A lot of folks ask why Transient Orcas are
different from our regular Resident Orcas.

One way that we can tell the difference is
when we see Pender, T14. If you look at the
front base of his big male dorsal fin,
you'll see some bumps. These are old scars
left from a time when he had a transmitter
bolted...yes, bolted...to the front of his
dorsal fin. Somehow he or another Orca ripped
it away from his body. This all happened almost
thirty years ago.

That's only one way that we know we are seeing
Transient Orcas...
